Cruising Is Still The Best Vacation Value
Times are hard right now for a lot of us. We think vacations are an expense we just can’t allow ourselves, but statistics prove that those of us who do take time off are healthier and happier in the long run. I know I’ve had to “kidnap” my busy husband and throw him on a cruise ship for the weekend. It makes all the difference in the world to be out on the ocean, away from responsibility, even for a few days. If you compare the price for a 3-day stay at a nice resort with meals, etc. to a weekend cruise you will be pleasantly surprised. Join us!

HOLIDAY BLUES?
I, for one, am having holiday withdrawal. All the preparation, bustling around, singing carols, hearing carols, seeing bright lights and tinsel… It’s like I have to pretend it didn’t happen. The tree is still up, but it even looks apologetic. I need to get out of town! How about you?

ROAD TRIP
Still the best way to see America. We just returned from a 4800-mile trip to Florida and back. It was HOT and mostly very humid, and we had some delays for repairs on the way, but we still enjoyed meeting our southern neighbors again, the Pecan Logs at Stucky’s, the singing of the tree frogs, and, most of all, Walt Disney World!

CRUISING WITH SERVICE DOGS?
I am looking forward to a brand new experience. I have been on 39 cruises but this time I will be hosting six blind folks from the Braille Institute, and three of them will be bringing their service dogs! We will be sailing on a weekend cruise with Carnival Cruise Lines out of Long Beach in November. These pups are so sweet, and we will be having “meet the working dog” sessions so other cruisers can say hello.

A NEW KIND OF CRUISIN’!
I will be hosting a group of eleven cruisers on the November 5, 2010 weekend cruise to Baja Mexico from Long Beach aboard the Carnival Paradise. A difference this time is that six of them are blind, and three of those folks will be bringing their precious service dogs! Why don’t you join us and meet Danton, Skip, and Miss Wanda!? The fare is still $349.00 per person/double. Less, if you put 3 or 4 people in the cabin. Y’all come!

Las Vegas Still Rocks!
Just returned from 4 days in Vegas celebrating a couple of birthdays. While there are certainly signs of a downturn in the economy (unfinished building projects), there are still just as many choices of entertainment and hotels appealing to every taste and budget. A highlight for us was seeing the fabulous production of Phantom of the Opera playing at the Venetian. Check it out for yourself, soon!

HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO!
With all the recent uproar about border tension and such, we tend to forget the warm, wonderful sights and sounds of our neighbor to the south. I still believe the best way to experience Mexico is on a cruise.
Imagine listening to the mariachis on a sunny afternoon in a friendly Mexican cantina, then listening to the cool sounds of the dance band that evening as you glide through the ocean on your luxurious ship.
There are so many great deals out there. Let’s plan a cruise soon, OK?
